Plotting Points is a biannual summit that endeavors to convene 150 museum practitioners from all over the Philippines to discuss relevant agencies and national policies in the arts and culture, trends in the field, as well as challenges and issues that institutions face.

For the 25th ICOM General Conference in Japan, one of the challenges posed towards museum workers all over the world is the “redefinition” of Museums— one that takes into account the “ambiguous and often contradictory trends in society, and the subsequent new conditions, obligations, and opportunities for museums.” In the 21st century, museums are faced with complexities that confront their purpose, commitments, challenges, and vision for the future.

In response to these challenges, the program combines different formats and platforms of engagement: keynote, presentations (plenary and breakout sessions), film screening, networking events, and site visits. With its dynamic program, this project hopes to equip participants with insight, skills, and proficiencies to think of novel ways of maneuvering within the museum network, and more importantly, in doing the work that we do in our own respective institutions. Regardless of specialization (museum administration, exhibitions, educations, and public programs, collections management, and conservation, as well as archives and libraries), there is much to be learned from each other.
